The Fishing:
Turneffe Island Lodge is now one of only 12 Orvis Endorsed International Destinations in the World, one of only 2 in Central America, and the only one in Belize! Turneffe Island Lodge continues to be recognized after four decades as one of the Caribbean’s top salt water flats fishing destinations. It is a prime location for the coveted Grand Slam fishing challenge. The number of anglers is limited to 8 in order to maximize the solitude, to keep a 2:1 client / guide ratio, and to control pressure on the flats.
Turneffe Island Lodge is now the home of the recent world record for one person catching the most 'Grand Slams' (6) at the same location (one Tarpon, one Permit and one Bonefish) all in the same day.
The 36 mile long Turneffe Atoll consists of over 200 mangrove islands that are undisturbed and teeming with Bonefish, Permit and Tarpon as well as Grouper, Snapper, Snook, Barracuda, Jacks, Wahoo, King Mackerel and Tuna. The crystal clear waters of the Atoll are inhabited by the greatest variety of coral and tropical marine life in the Caribbean.
The guides are professional, local, experienced and very professional. They provide an exceptional fishing experience for the beginner and expert alike.
