General Information:
This is a destination especially suited to those on short visits to Buenos Aires. Because it is located just 90 minutes drive from the capital city, it is an ideal location for a one-day excursion during which you will be able to enjoy the incomparable experience of fly fishing Dorado, Piranha and Tararira (dogfish), surrounded by a unique landscape.
Located very close to Buenos Aires, San Pedro consists of a delta where hundreds of streams and channels get together, giving home to these species, so sought after by fly fishermen. This is an easy way to enjoy the wilderness, and have the chance to see many birds and river turtles.
Furthermore, in the appropriate season, San Pedro offers excellent wing shooting for duck and partridge (Take me there..)
The Fishing:
The freshwater Dorado is considered to be the single most challenging native freshwater game fish of South America. It is a radiant, golden-hued, salmon-like fish with an extremely powerful jaw and razor-sharp teeth. The Dorado is an exceptionally strong swimmer and normally ranges in size from 5 to 8 pounds (in this area).
Programme:
Day-out programmes from Buenos Aires are very popular at San Pedro. Such a programme would normally involve a pick up around 6am from your hotel in Buenos Aires. After a 2 hour car journey and a short boat trip to the islands, you will be fishing by 9am. You can then fish until 6pm (lunch-box provided), and be back at your hotel by 9pm. |
Fishing is available from Monday to Friday only.
Accommodation:
For those wishing to spend more than one day fishing, comfortable cabins on the islands available. We offer accommodation in cabins in the islands, with the typical amenities of the area, a delicious "asado" served with Argentinian wines and breakfast.

September to April.
Rates – 2009/10:
Single Day-Out Fishing Programme: US$650 per boat (for one or two persons)
2 Day Fishing programme: US$1,450 per boat (for one or two persons)
Included: Transfer Buenos Aires/San Pedro/Buenos Aires; 1 Fishing day (or 2 Fishing days and 1 night accommodation in cabins, according to Programme selected); all meals, refreshments, beer, snacks, brunch, flies, fishing tackle (rod/ reel/line/ leader).
Not Included: Alcoholic drinks; Gratuities
Conditions:
A deposit of 50% confirms a reservation. The balance is payable 60 days before the commencement of the programme.
