General Information:
The Provinces of Córdoba and Salta are renowned for their huge populations of dove. As these birds move through the feeding fields every day, they offer you literally hundreds of shots in a typical day, together with amazing landscapes and sun all the year round.
The profusion of dove in the area around Las Lajitas commenced a few years ago as a result of farming in the fertile valleys for sunflower, corn, wheat and sorghum, as well as the natural roosting areas found close to the Andes mountain range. This provides the perfect environment for the bird’s populations, which reproduce by millions in few years . According to the National Department of Agriculture, the area where you will shoot is home to over 100 million birds, making Salta the best dove destination in Argentina.
The Shooting:
To quote from a recent issue of Dove Hunter Magazine:
"To many who follow wing-shooting trends, predictions are that Salta Province will soon overtake Cordoba Province as the dove shooting capital of the world. With only one outfitter holding the permit for the entire state, and with three times as many birds as Cordoba, Salta is the true pinnacle of dove shooting. .... The numbers defy any attempt to describe them. Rising like smoke and flying in virtual unbroken clouds to and from feeding areas, the scene can only be described as a plague of Biblical proportions."
