Los Laureles, Entre Ríos

Argentina

General Information:

Los Laureles offers one of the most varied sporting programmes that is available anywhere in Argentina – Duck, Dove, Partridge and Pigeon Shooting.  It is a formidable Lodge offering exquisite cuisine, a delightful swimming pool, and extraordinary comfort.

Furthermore, in the appropriate season, the Lodge also offers some exceptional Dorado Fishing in the Paraná River and its many tributaries (Take me there...).

The Shooting:

Duck shooting is perhaps the main activity in this area, and the reserves in Entre Rios Province are a permanent habitat for the many different duck species of Argentina.  The unique grounds, and the extent of water in this great delta of streams, lagoons and marshes, turn this area into a particularly attractive habitat for a wide variety of aquatic animal species.

Guests will be transported to the shooting areas in 4x4 light trucks.  Mostly you will be shooting alongside lagoons, from blinds located in the water. Every spot will have decoys set up and each gun will be assisted by a bird-boy who will use typical calls to attract the birds, and who will retrieve the birds.

There are many dove ‘fly-lines’ within walking distance of the Lodge, which provide excellent sport and an ideal contrast for the duck programme.  Throughout the morning, and then the afternoon, there is a steady flight of dove respectively to and from their feeding areas.  Rather than the ‘clouds’ of birds found in Córdoba and Salta Provinces, you will find a constant movement of dove over each gun, in twos and threes, darting and jinxing in different directions.  You will be firing literally hundreds of cartridges.

Additionally, fine pigeon shooting, to decoys, is also provided.

For all species of wing shooting, the experienced guides have a fine knowledge of just where and how to find the conditions appropriate for each guest’s preferences.

The Programme:

Los Laureles Lodge is located some 580 km from Buenos Aires.  It is accessible by domestic flights to Santa Fé airport, where members of the staff will be waiting to drive you to the Lodge. Domestic and charter flights can be arranged.

Normally the duck shooting will be scheduled for the early morning.  Breakfast is served at 5am and the duck shoot that follows will continue until about 10am.  You will then return to the Lodge to have an early but substantial lunch, with time thereafter to relax either by the pool or for a siesta.

At around 3pm you will have the opportunity to shoot for dove, partridge or pigeon until evening.

Seasons:

The duck shooting season in Entre Rios Province is from May to August.  However, the Paraná River is the border between Entre Rios and Santa Fé Provinces, and the duck shooting season in Santa Fé is from January to October.  At Los Laureles the option exists of combining  dove/pigeon shooting in Entre Rios, with duck shooting in Santa Fé, at times of the year when duck shooting is prohibited in the rest of Argentina.

Dove and pigeon can be shot all year round.

Accommodation:

This luxury Lodge is located on the banks of the Paraná river and is fully equipped to accommodate 12 persons (6 guns and their guests, or 12 gun party). Six double and single rooms, all en-suite with private bath and air-conditioning, are provided.  Other facilities include a big kitchen, a dining room with an adjoining grill, a sitting room, a rest room with satellite TV and music, and a swimming pool.

Both lunch and dinner will be preceded by a wide selection of drinks and a variety of cheese, ham, olives and drinks.  The meals themselves offer some of the finest gastronomic experiences that you will find anywhere, either inside or outside Argentina.
