General Information:

Located in the province of Corrientes, in the northeast of Argentina, Estancia el Dorado stands out as a typical Argentine ranch on the Corriente River.  The Lodge is situated close to the river and therefore the fishing is within a close proximity. 

A wide variety of birds, capybaras and alligators can be seen all along the river.

The Fishing:

Virtually the whole course of the river can be fished along its banks.  The clear water allows for sight fishing and powerful hook-ups from the large Dorado that are to be found.

The Dorado, or "the Tiger of the Paraná", is a very aggressive fish for sport fishing – with behaviour similar to the saltwater tarpon.  The normal size of Dorado found here is between 4 and 12lbs, although they may reach up to 30lbs.

There are three fully equipped boats for fly-fishing, and experienced guides who know every corner of the river to fulfil the expectations of the anglers.

The Programme:

Fishing at Estancia El Dorado can be taken for as many days as you wish.  The normal programme consists of a 3 fishing day package, or more.

Estancias El Dorado is located in the Province of Corrientes, some 700 kilometres from Buenos Aires. It is accessible by plane to Corrientes, or by bus up to Mercedes, where members of the staff will be waiting to drive you to the Lodge.

Normally, fishing starts early in the morning. A full breakfast is served at 6.30am.  Fishing continues until about 11.45am, when you go back to the ranch to have lunch. Your time is free until 4 o'clock, at which time you go back to the river to keep on fishing until about 8.30 in the evening.

Accommodation:

Located close to the left bank of the Corriente River, the Lodge offers three double bedrooms with private bathrooms and air conditioning, accommodating up to 6 guests. There is also a spacious gathering room, a dining room and other facilities, apart from a warm service and hospitality.

Meals are plentiful and of excellent quality.  Lunch consists of a starter, a main course and dessert, served with wine, beer and other beverages. Before dinner you may try a wide variety of cheese, ham, olives and drinks.  Dinner consists of three courses (starter, a main course and dessert), again accompanied by wines, beers and other beverages.

Rates – 2009/10:

Based on a 3 day fishing programme, the package price is US$990 per person based upon double occupancy and shared guide – Minimum 2 persons (Max. 6).

Included:    Transfer Mercedes/Estancia/Mercedes; 2 nights and 3 days accommodation with all meals, wines/beers and beverages; 3 fishing days with boat and guide.

Not Included:    International flights; Transfers Buenos Aires/Mercedes/Buenos Aires; Insurance; Fishing equipment and flies; Laundry service; Other personal expenses; Gratuities.

Conditions:

A deposit of 50% confirms a reservation.  The balance is payable 60 days before the commencement of the programme.
