General Information:

Since December 2008, the new fishing area on the north coast of Cuba, in the Province of Villa Clara in Central Cuba, now provides some exciting fishing.  It is located in the western sector of the Jardines del Rey (King's Gardens), and is a 3½ hour drive (or a short flight) from Havana.

The Fishing:

This is still a relatively unknown fishing area but in the last few seasons it has proved to be particularly good for large, migratory tarpon.  Also caught in good numbers are jacks, barracuda, snapper and grouper.  The tarpon fishing is world class.  Fish from 10 to 40 lbs are present all year round, and very big fish up to 100 lbs+ start to show up in significant numbers from March onwards.  Fishing for big snapper and jacks on the fly is also a great experience.  In deeper water, the Bahamas Channel offshore offers good possibilities for wahoo, dorado and tuna.  Spin fishermen will also enjoy the experience of big tarpon, jacks, barracuda, snappers and grouper.

Facilities:

There are 8 boats available - 4 Hewes Bonefisher 17 with 75hp and 90hp engines;  and 4 brand new Carolina Skiff Sea Chaser with 60hp engines.  They are all equipped for fly and spinning, with cooler, life jackets, first aid kit, and radios.  They are suitable for fishing the very shallow water as well as on the reefs and drop offs located nearby.

Programme:

Full services will be provided from the moment of guests’ arrival in Havana - VIP welcome, airport transfers, accommodation in Havana and Cayo Las Brujas (full board) or Cayo Santa Maria (all inclusive), organisation of fishing, camp services.  Normal programmes run from Saturday to Saturday

Accommodation:

There areseveral options for accommodation - either in bungalow accommodation near the fishing club on Cayo Las Brujas with a beautiful white sandy beach; or on the nearby Cayo Santa María in a 5* all-inclusive hotel. The islands are beautiful and the hotels offer the same high quality standards as in Varadero or Cayo Largo.

Rates - 2010/2011:

Rates are from US$4,475/person at 5* Hotels in Havana and Cayo Santa María according to season, double basis.
 

Included: VIP Reception at Havana Airport;  All transfers inside Cuba, including domestic flight;  1 night in Havana in 5* hotel, double occupancy, breakfast included;  7 nights in 5* Hotel (all inclusive), double occupancy;  6 full days guided fishing, sharing a skiff;  Beverages on board;  Camp services (including free fly tackle rental). 

Not included: International and domestic flights; Extra beverages and food; Gratuities; Cuban Visa; Airport Tax (CUC 25).

Conditions:

A deposit of 50% confirms a reservation.  The balance is payable 60 days before commencement of the programme.
